The Gokongwei Group ("Group") is a collective reference to the various enterprises/companies, established by the Gokongwei Family, involved in diversified businesses in the Philippines and the ASEAN region. The Group includes JG Summit Holdings, Inc. together with its respective subsidiaries and affiliates, Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, and the Group's philanthropic arm, the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, among other business entities.

JG Summit Holdings, Inc.

The holding company of the Gokongwei family’s varied businesses, JG Summit was incorporated on November 23, 1990. Today, its core businesses represent interests in food and beverage, agro-industrial products, and other commodities through Universal Robina Corporation (URC); real estate, hotels, and resorts through Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC); air transportation through Cebu Air, Inc. (CEB); and petrochemicals through JG Summit Olefins Corporation (JGSOC), among others. The holding company made its listing debut on the Philippine Stock Exchange on August 9, 1993.

The real estate arm of JG Summit, Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), is celebrated for its diverse and dynamic property development projects. In 1992, our founder, John Gokongwei Jr. donated half of his personal shares in JG Summit Holdings Inc., to establish the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF), with contributions from his brothers Johnson, Henry and James. GBF continues to be the largest shareholder of JG Summit.

GoTyme Bank Corporation

By partnering with Tyme, a multi-country digital banking group, key entities of the Gokongwei Group entered the innovative digital banking arena. The result of the partnership, GoTyme Bank, combines the diverse ecosystem of the Gokongwei Group with TymeBank's secure global digital banking platform, which has catered to more than 8 million customers in South Africa since the start of its commercial operations in 
February 2019. 
 
One of the first six entities to be granted a digital banking license by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, GoTyme Bank commercially launched in October 2022, and attracted 
3 million customers in just 18 months. 
 
With its unique “phygital” model, GoTyme provides secure and easy onboarding through both an app and digital kiosks conveniently located throughout the retail footprint of the Gokongwei Group. The unique “Bank where you shop” 
proposition effectively leverages on the Gokongwei Group’s extensive ecosystem that is highly integrated into the daily lives of Filipinos—where they already shop, eat, and spend family time. 
 
GoTyme Bank aims to unlock the financial potential of the Filipinos through innovative, simple, beautiful banking products and services that empower its customers with new ways of spending, saving, investing and managing their money.

Infrastructure:

Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp.

The Gokongwei Group’s competency in the real estate development and aviation sectors gave us the confidence to participate in LIPAD Corp., the multi-sectoral consortium between four major Philippine companies — JG Summit Holdings, Filinvest Development Corporation, Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions (PAGSS), and Changi Airports Philippines Pte. Ltd. LIPAD secured the operations and maintenance contract for Clark International Airport (CRK) in 2018, with the mission of elevating CRK into a premier aviation hub, offering excellent facilities, and services for travelers.

In 2022, LIPAD opened Clark International Airport's new terminal to the public, and all international and domestic flights from Clark International Airport were transferred to the new terminal. With an annual capacity of 8 million passengers, CRK serves as an alternate entry point to the Philippines and alleviates congestion at Manila's primary airport. The airport's strategic location and ongoing developments to further improve efficiency aim to meet the rising aviation needs in the region and contribute to the country's economic progress.

DHL Summit Solutions Inc.

Combining the logistics expertise of DHL Supply Chain with the market knowledge and customer base of JG Summit Holdings, DHL Summit Solutions (DSSI) aims to deliver world-class domestic transport operations in the Philippines, supporting customers in capitalizing on growth opportunities.

In the Gokongwei Group, it has two key clients, URC and Robinsons Supermarket. With DSSI as their reliable and responsive partner, the two companies were provided with robust logistics solutions, key drivers in their success.    
These are just two examples of DSSI’s sensitivity to its clients’ needs, showing agility despite global challenges and volatile economic conditions that pushed fuel prices to record highs. 

In the next five years, DSSI will continue to increase its presence and credibility in the Philippine transportation landscape. Leveraged by its Connected Control Tower capabilities, DSSI will increase its service from Luzon transportation to include inter-island containerized movement, by partnering with major shipping lines.

JG Summit is the second-largest shareholder in Manila Electric Company (Meralco), holding 26.37% of the company’s outstanding shares. Meralco is the largest electric distribution utility in the Philippines. Serving the Greater Manila Area and its surrounding regions, Meralco distributes electricity to millions of households, businesses, and industries.

JG Summit is currently involved in the telecommunications industry through its ownership of an 11.27% stake in PLDT, Inc. PLDT is the leading telecommunications service provider in the Philippines, providing a wide range of services, including fixed-line and mobile phone services, internet, and data connectivity.

Singapore Land

Outside of the Philippines, JG Summit has investments in Singapore Land Group Limited (SingLand), previously United Industrial Corporation Limited. SingLand’s diverse real estate portfolio encompasses commercial offices, residential and retail properties, and hotels. The company currently boasts 2.7 million square feet of office space and 1 million square feet of retail space in Singapore alone.

BPI

Established in 1851, Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is one of the most prominent and trusted financial institutions in the Philippines. A universal bank, it offers a comprehensive range of banking services, including deposits, loans, investments, and electronic banking. The merger between BPI and the Gokongwei Group’s Robinsons Bank is already effective as of January 1, 2024.

Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc.

The retail arm of the Gokongwei Group, Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. (RRHI) is one of the Philippines’ largest multi-format retailers. After opening the first Robinsons Department Store in Manila in 1980, Robinsons Retail has since expanded to operate an extensive array of retail formats including supermarkets, convenience stores, drugstores, and other specialty stores. Its well-known banners, such as Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Department Store, and Uncle John’s, cater to a broad spectrum of consumer needs, providing quality products, convenience, and value to its customers.

DAVI is the Gokongwei Group’s data analytics company. It manages Go Rewards, the loyalty program of the Gokongwei Group.

Beyond acting as custodian owner of consumer data generated from its loyalty program, DAVI's expert data scientists and analysts transform raw data into actionable strategies. DAVI’s proficiency in interpreting customer trends and behavior can drive transformative engagement, higher customer retention, and business growth.

JGDEV, the corporate venture capital arm of JG Summit, was founded in 2019 to bolster the conglomerate’s efforts in its digital transformation journey by introducing new technologies and talented entrepreneurs across the region to further strengthen the Gokongwei Group drive for innovation and growth. 

It uses the Group’s deep sector knowledge to identify, invest in, and collaborate with promising early-stage start-ups in Southeast Asia, while leveraging ecosystem synergies to create mutual value-adding opportunities.

Since 2019, JGDEV has invested in over 10 start-ups, primarily in core sectors such as e-commerce, fintech and enterprise tech. Key investments include Growsari, a B2B platform that has helped digitize thousands of sari-sari stores in the country; Tyme Bank, with whom the Gokongwei Group formed GoTyme, a fast-growing digital bank launched in the Philippines in 2022; and Darwinbox, a global provider of cloud-based HR Management Software.

Gokongwei Brothers Foundation

In 1992, founder John Gokongwei Jr., together with his brothers Henry, Johnson, and James, established the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) after donating half of his personal shares in JG Summit Holdings, Inc. to the Foundation.

Guided by their belief that education is fundamental to building a strong economy and a progressive nation, GBF has focused on advancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education as a catalyst for sustainable development.

Through scholarships, institutional support, teacher professional development, and collaborative partnerships, the Foundation continues to nurture Filipino talent and expand access to quality education.
