Sustainability

Creating Shared Success in the Gokongwei Group and Beyond

Through Stewardship – one of the Gokongwei Group’s three core values – we have demonstrated over the years that sustainability is not just a part of our business, it’s at the very heart of all that we do.

In our companies, Stewardship is the effective management of the resources placed in our trust, driven by our commitment to operate as ethically and sustainably as possible. By implementing sustainable business practices in all facets of our operations, we aim to serve the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own.

With a strong focus on Stewardship, our business units and their management teams are encouraged to make moral business choices that are financially viable, have a minimal impact on the environment, and, as much as possible, uplift the communities where we operate.

The Gokongwei Group ("Group") is a collective reference to the various enterprises/companies, established by the Gokongwei Family, involved in diversified businesses in the Philippines and the ASEAN region. The Group includes JG Summit Holdings, Inc. together with its respective subsidiaries and affiliates, Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, and the Group's philanthropic arm, the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, among other business entities.

The Gokongwei Group is resolute in our pursuit of a better and brighter future, where stewardship, ethical practices, and sustainability are intrinsically intertwined, serving as the cornerstone of our shared success in the decades to come.

Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Thrust

JG Summit and Robinsons Retail actively contribute to the Gokongwei Group’s ESG agenda with noteworthy programs focusing on equitable economic value distribution, climate and environmental initiatives, innovative resource efficiency practices, and employee development, diversity, and inclusion, to name a few. Combined, these initiatives aim to have a lasting positive impact on society and on our planet.

Every day, Robinsons Retail connects consumers, suppliers, employees, and communities through one of the country’s largest retail networks. Its ESG approach is organized around Responsible Retailing, Relationship with Our People and Communities, and Robust Environmental Action—collectively known as the 3Rs of Sustainability. Anchored on Good Governance and enabled through Stakeholder Collaboration, the framework guides how the Company uses its scale and reach to expand economic opportunities, strengthen community well-being, and reduce the environmental impact of its operations.

Shared Success

Shared Success focuses on expanding access to education, livelihoods, employment, and essential services. Cebu Pacific advances this goal through its Change for Good program, which has raised more than ₱112 million since its launch to support children’s health, nutrition, education, and emergency needs. In 2025, the airline also hired 11 returning Filipino engineers through its OFW Balikbayan Program, creating local career opportunities for experienced aviation professionals.

Robinsons Malls broadens access to employment and public services through nationwide and international recruitment events. Its first India–Philippines Job Fair offered more than 2,500 jobs and 1,000 free upskilling opportunities, while Lingkod Pinoy Centers and the GOCC Caravan brought government, employment, and financial services closer to communities.

URC supports aspiring entrepreneurs through programs such as Bida sa Masa. The URC Flour initiative drew more than 80 professional and home bakers, with two winners receiving cash, equipment, and products to help develop their businesses.

Climate Action

Climate Action covers emissions reduction, renewable energy, operational efficiency, clean mobility, and preparation for climate-related risks. Cebu Pacific addresses aviation emissions by modernizing its fleet and improving fuel efficiency. By the end of 2025, 58 of its 100 aircraft were NEO models, which consume 15% to 20% less fuel than earlier-generation aircraft. Digital fuel-management tools and pilot operating practices saved 11,051 metric tons of fuel and avoided an estimated 34,919 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.

The airline also completed the Philippines’ first all-electric aircraft turnaround at Mactan-Cebu International Airport using electric baggage tractors, loaders, and pushback vehicles.

Robinsons Land expands the use of renewable energy and cleaner transport infrastructure across its properties. It installed 37.9 megawatts of solar capacity across 28 malls and increased its EV charging network from 14 to 42 points.

URC purchased 186.5 million kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity across 17 sites. Solar installations at 19 locations generated another 26.9 million kilowatt-hours, reducing the company’s reliance on electricity from conventional sources.

Resource Efficiency and Circularity

Resource Efficiency and Circularity focuses on using water, energy, materials, and resources left over from operations more efficiently while reducing reliance on disposable products. Robinsons Hotels and Resorts puts this into practice through its R Water program, which replaces plastic-bottled guest water with purified water in reusable glass bottles. In 2025, the system diverted more than 265,000 single-use plastic bottles from landfills and is projected to eliminate about 8.1 metric tons of plastic waste each year.

Robinsons Malls extends these efforts through recycling and waste-management programs across 53 properties, collecting more than 4,370 metric tons of recyclable materials. Cebu Pacific reduced single-use plastic consumption by 15 metric tons through biodegradable materials for inflight service and collected 35 metric tons of plastic bottles from its operations.

URC conserved water by reusing more than 576,000 cubic meters of treated wastewater and harvested rainwater. It also used sugarcane residue, biomass, biogas, and coffee and tea residues to generate energy and reduce its reliance on conventional fuel sources.

Employee Growth and Well-Being

Employee Growth and Well-being covers learning, career development, workplace safety, inclusion, recognition, and physical, mental, social, and financial health. JG Summit supports these priorities through programs such as the JGSHI Learning Festival, which reached 1,668 employees in 2025 through sessions on leadership, digital transformation, customer centricity, sustainability, and innovation.

The JGSHI Olympics complements these learning efforts by giving employees opportunities to connect outside their day-to-day work. Bringing together participants from different business units and levels, the program includes traditional sports, digital games, and creative performances. The activities encourage physical movement, support mental well-being, and provide different ways for employees to participate while strengthening camaraderie across the organization.

Cebu Pacific provided 339,823 employee training hours, while 20% of employee movements involved people taking on new roles within the company. Women accounted for 54% of its workforce and management. The airline also created internship opportunities for neurodivergent youth and extended health-care coverage and travel privileges to same-sex and common-law partners.

Robinsons Hotels and Resorts extended learning across 20 properties through its Flash Talk series, delivering a combined 1,184 hours of training. URC strengthened employee communication through company town halls and upgraded its Tera and Giga offices with spaces designed to support collaboration and hybrid work.

Better Choices

Better Choices focuses on making products, services, and spaces safer, healthier, more accessible, and more inclusive. Cebu Pacific puts this into practice through continued training, operational risk assessments, and measures aimed at reducing the risk of bird strikes at six airports. These efforts supported the airline’s record of zero aviation accidents and zero passenger fatalities in 2025.

Robinsons Land widens access to public services through expanded DFA consular offices at Robinsons Galleria and Robinsons GenSan. The offices processed more than 115 and 291 passport applications, respectively, on their opening days. Its malls also provide more inclusive facilities, including Muslim prayer rooms and the country’s first inclusive Family Cinema at Opus.

In its food business, URC applies defined wellness criteria to guide product development. All products evaluated in 2025 met at least one criterion, while 97% met two and 85% met three. These criteria help URC track and expand the availability of more nutritious options across its product portfolio.

Responsible Retailing

Across its retail formats, Robinsons Retail creates opportunities for Filipino entrepreneurs, producers, and communities to participate in the modern economy while giving customers access to trusted products. Spatio provides a dedicated platform for more than 100 Filipino makers and designers, connecting local craftsmanship with a wider consumer market. Across Robinsons Supermarket, Shopwise, and The Marketplace, the Company strengthens local supply chains through farm-to-table partnerships with farmers and responsible seafood sourcing programs that support sustainable agricultural and fishing practices. Through its network of more than 2,100 franchised The Generics Pharmacy (TGP) stores, it also enables local entrepreneurship while broadening access to quality, affordable generic medicines nationwide. These efforts are supported by standards covering responsible sourcing, product safety, labeling, marketing, and customer data privacy.

Relationship with Our People and Communities

Robinsons Retail invests in its people and in programs that respond to community needs. Southstar Drug’s Project Incredibles creates employment opportunities for neurodivergent individuals, whose number increased from 21 in 2024 to 37 in 2025. Since 2023, the Food Segment’s Food Rescue Initiative has redirected more than 169,200 kilograms of surplus food, helping provide over 710,000 meals to partner communities while reducing food waste. Across its banners, the Company also promotes health, wellness, and empowerment through medical missions and health fairs by its drugstore banners, wellness runs, Robinsons Department Store’s women’s advocacy campaigns, and Toys “R” Us child development programs. Pet Lovers Centre extends this care to animal welfare through food-rescue efforts and initiatives supporting shelters and rescued pets.

Robust Environmental Action

Robinsons Retail embeds practical environmental solutions across its operations. In 2025, the Company generated and consumed 2.5 million kilowatt-hours of renewable power and reduced its consumption of plastic and paper consumer packaging by 426,000 kilograms. It is expanding solar-powered facilities, adopting natural CO₂ refrigeration systems, and supporting lower-carbon mobility through electric vehicle initiatives. Trade-in programs by Handyman, Robinsons Appliances, and True Value encourage customers to extend product life, divert usable items from waste, and support partner communities. Meanwhile, the Food Segment’s Easy on the Plastic, Eco-Ikot Center, and Help Save Philippine Seas programs mobilize customers, employees, and community partners to advance plastic recovery, recycling, and marine conservation.

Juan Goal for Plastic

In line with the goal to achieve plastic neutrality, the Gokongwei Group launched the “Juan Goal for Plastic" initiative aimed at collecting, recovering, and diverting plastic waste. With URC taking the lead, around 100 employees from across the group developed a holistic, solid plan towards plastic waste collection and diversion. Coordinating with multiple stakeholders on the development of innovative solutions, URC worked with Robinsons Malls, Robinsons Supermarkets, and RRHI’s convenience stores. For the pilot program, it installed 115 collection hubs and activated community-based collections in nine partner barangays.
